what kind of peanut butter should I use?

Creamy JIF peanut butter is the best peanut butter in my humble opinion, but any brand will work.  I would not recommend using crunchy peanut butter unless you want crunchy fudge (which just sounds unappealing).

I have not tried any other nut butters, so I cannot speak to their use in this fudge recipe.

which frosting works best?

Cream cheese frosting is the only type I have tried, so I have no idea if regular frosting would work.

As far as brand, I am partial to Betty Crocker frostings, but if you want to buy and use whatever is on sale, this is fine.

Make sure it’s regular white or vanilla frosting though, unless you’re game to see what strawberry peanut butter fudge tastes like.

This creamy peanut butter fudge recipe is great the way it is, though, so I don’t recommend changing it. You’ll agree when you try it.
